Bacon is believed to be one of the most delicious foods in Western society. There are several sites devoted to this subject. There are even fan clubs. Surprisingly, there are actually Bacon shoes (these are not truly made out of Bacon but are rather made to look as if they have been – do an online search if you do not believe me).
This, perhaps surprising popularity, makes me wonder. Who invented bacon? How to cook bacon? Can you microwave bacon? How to make bacon? Can we do this ourselves? Which are the best bacon recipes? Is Bacon Healthy? Why do people love it so much?
Fortunately, the internet is a wonderful place to look for resources for such information. A quick search shows that Bacon is actually cured meat that is prepared from certain parts of a pig. There are several types of bacon which come from different areas of the pig (its belly, its side, its loins, its shoulder and even its cheeks). Additionally, there are a great number of ways of preparing it: it can be baked, boiled, grilled, fried, smoked, used as a additive in a salad and in numerous other manners. And certainly,, bacon can most definitely be microwaved (i.e. using a microwave bacon cooker), and this is a thing we can do ourselves.
Since Bacon is made from pigs (although in some countries, non-pig based bacon-like foods are also referred to as bacon, which is in my own opinion basically does not count), is actually prohibited to eat for followers of Judaism and Islam. Judaism treats pigs as ‘dirty’ or ‘tainted’ animals and as such, all meats made from their flesh are prohibited.
I need to finish, my Bacon Wrapped Sausages is waiting for me. I suggest you leave now and purchase some. You know you want to.
